Ergo Budget Reality Check (How To Do More With Less!)

"Most of us have gotten used to the current reality of trimming our personal budgets and dealing with the economic upshot of self imposed austerity. On a personal level we can all appreciate (even if we are not happy about it!) that we must adjust our wants & desires to match fiscal reality or run the risk of being in the red and feeling a little blue!"

Stop Counting Clicks

http://idyeah.com/blog/2012/06/stop-cou ... _172808740

"Clicks and Keystrokes are the most commonly (over)used parameters to measure and “commit” usability. How much does the 3-click-rule hold true, really? The rule was formed to serve as a guideline only; many made the mistake of treating it as a rule. Any workflow or navigation should be completed in 3-clicks or under – was the blind mantra for many business owners and designers."

Taking a measure of mental health in the workplace

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-o ... _173577617

"Employers will soon have a new tool to help them combat mental illness in the workplace, a devastating and costly disorder that, according to a new survey, affects more than 22 per cent of Canadian workers.

A new voluntary Canada-wide standard for the psychological health and safety of the workplace will spell out requirements for the mental well being of the work force, just as there are measures for its physical welfare."

Företagen mycket bättre på arbetsmiljö – men tiden är en bristvara

http://www.prevent.se/sv/Toppmenyn/Pres ... bristvara/

"Nio av tio chefer uppger att det bedrivs ett systematiskt arbetsmiljöarbete på deras företag visar nya siffror från Prevents arbetsmiljörapport 2012. Det är en fördubbling sedan 1996. För småföretagen är det en mångdubbling. Samtidigt visar undersökningen att många chefer och skyddsombud upplever att de inte har tillräckligt med tid och kunskaper för att bedriva ett bra arbetsmiljöarbete"

12 Everyday Reasons User Experience is an Expertise

12 Everyday Reasons User Experience is an Expertise

http://soshable.com/12-everyday-reasons ... _123788658

"I’ve heard many marketers name “better user experience” as a 2012 interactive initiative, but I’m not sure that they understand what user experience is – or the fact that their design team (or worse yet, the person saying this herself) may not be qualified to analyze and improve the site’s “user experience.” This proclamation is often accompanied by words such as mobile, dynamic, depth, engaging, and interactive. What these people fail to understand is that user experience is an expertise, and it’s not the same as being a great graphic designer or digital specialist."

Designing a Killer Experience

http://mobiquityinc.com/our-ideas/podca ... _123870109

"It all starts with understanding the end user. Who is the target customer? In what context will he or she be launching the app? Will it immediately capture and engage them on a small screen? These are just some of the questions Mobiquity Chief Creative Officer Andrew Hiser will answer during this lively conversation."

"Time pressures, poor maintenance, human error – these are the factors that are often most likely to stack up to accidents, insurance claims and higher premiums for ports and terminals, and they are the factors that underwriters are watching."

Scientists design indoor navigation system for blind

http://phys.org/news/2012-05-scientists ... _117977792

"University of Nevada, Reno computer science engineering team Kostas Bekris and Eelke Folmer presented their indoor navigation system for people with visual impairments at two national conferences in the past two weeks. The researchers explained how a combination of human-computer interaction and motion-planning research was used to build a low-cost accessible navigation system, called Navatar, which can run on a standard smartphone."
